Hey, I'm Erin! 00.

But my friends call me E. My other nickname growing up was “tech-tech,” aka. the person people called when they needed someone to unplug and replug the router.

Although I've left behind my role as a Designated Router Specialist, my commitment to solving the challenges of those around me persisted! Currently, I’m the Lead Product Designer at Ensightful, where I’m spearheading the design of TimelyGrader, an AI-powered feedback and grading tool that helps instructors and students integrate AI into the assessment process.

Prior to Ensightful, I worked for the University of British Columbia AUS developing their employee onboarding system.

Joy + Design

Something I’m big on are designs that spark joy! Working off the definition “gladness not based on circumstance,” I think really great design can spark joy even if you’re just booking a dentists appointment.

Outside of my job, learning more about the relationship between joy and design has become a passion of mine.

To get to know me a bit better, here are some things that spark joy for me…

COLOUR + TYPOGRAPHY
Colour brings me a lot of joy! Can’t you tell from this website? One of my favourite things to do when traveling is walk around and search for funky colour combinations and typography

JOYFUL BY INGRID FETELL LEE
This has been the one of the most impactful non-UX design books I have read. Lee approaches joy/design from a physical product perspective but most of what she writes inspires when applied to digital products as well

MY MIND’S SUNDAY NEWSLETTER
This is the #1 most exciting email in my inbox most weekends. I’d describe it as an inspirational brain dump that ranges from poetry to industrial design and more. I’m not even an avid user of the actual product, but I open their newsletter without fail every Sunday

INTERIOR DESIGN/DECOR
Way back before I knew what UX Design was, I wanted to become an interior designer. I spend a lot of my time offline building things for/designing my apartment.

I upcycled this bowl I found at the thrift store using oven-bake ceramic glaze (just found out that’s a thing!)

MY AM ROUTINE BEFORE WORK
I am a morning person through and through, and my morning routine has been made extra joyful lately with the addition of my rescue pup, Kip! He motivates to me spend about an hour outside before work every morning :)
